Mind-Body Practices
Mind-Body practices are therapeutic techniques that focus on connecting the mind and body to release stress and calm anxiety. Unlike purely cognitive approaches, these practices tap into the body’s natural ability to process emotions and release tension, helping to ground and centre you in the present moment. Adopting a holistic approach acknowledges that our physical, mental, and emotional states are deeply intertwined. It emphasises that overall health is not solely determined by isolated physical symptoms but by the combined wellbeing of body and mind.
These practices are especially powerful for those who feel disconnected or overwhelmed, as they help rebuild a safe and compassionate connection with your body.
Emotional Freedom Techniques
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), also known as tapping, is a therapeutic method that combines elements of cognitive therapy with acupressure. It involves tapping specific points on the body while focusing on a troubling thought, emotion, issue or event. The practice is designed to reduce emotional distress and reprogram the brain’s response to triggers by stimulating energy pathways. EFT is commonly used for reducing stress, anxiety, and emotional pain, as well as addressing PTSD and trauma. EFT is also effective for addressing limiting beliefs, phobias, pain and weight issues.

Somatic Enquiry
Body awareness and the mind-body connection are crucial for emotional and physical wellbeing, as they help us tune into how our emotions are expressed in the body. Somatic enquiry allows for the release of physical and emotional tension, promoting a sense of flow and integration. This practice supports the mind-body connection, enhancing emotional resilience, healing and overall wellness by helping us reconnect with our body and emotions in a grounded, compassionate way.

Self-Compassion
Self-compassion involves treating ourselves with the same kindness, understanding and care as we would offer to a close friend. It means acknowledging imperfections, mistakes, or painful feelings without harsh self-judgment.
Kristen Neff defines self-compassion as having three main components: self-kindness (being gentle and supportive toward ourselves), common humanity (recognising that struggles are universal) and mindfulness (being present with our pain without over identifying with it). By offering ourselves compassion instead of criticism during tough times, we can better manage anxiety, shame and self-doubt. It encourages healthier coping strategies, greater self-worth and improved relationships.
